This was for a baby shower. All the decoration on top was made from flower paste about a week before it was due to be picked up. The cake is sponge with jam and butter cream inside.

Penhallamoaks is an Amateur Cake Maker.

Cake Ingredients & Method

110g/4oz self raising flour
110g/4oz butter or margarine
110g/4oz caster sugar
2 medium eggs
Heat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4.
Line 2x18cm/7in cake tins with baking parchment
Cream the butter and the sugar together until light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs.
Seive the flour and fold in carefully.
Divide the mixture between the two cake tins and spread out evenly.
Bake for 20-25 minutes until a skewer comes out clean.
Allow to stand for 5-10 minutes before turning on to a wire rack to cool.
Sandwich the cakes together with jam, and/or whipped cream.
Sprinkle the top with sifted icing sugar and serve.
